Our Mission

Black Canyon Heritage Park (BCHP) provides visitors with a variety of experiences to arouse curiosity and to instill a sense of discovery and stewardship for the area's outstanding cultural, historical, recreational, and environmental riches.

Can you help?  Now that the basics of the Visitor Center and park's exterior are completed, we are ready to concentrate on the next level of park improvements plus on developing public exhibits and programming.  We are looking for volunteers and funding (grants or donations)to enable us to complete these projects:

Water/Ways - Telling the Story of Water in Arizona

Please donate to help us highlight local water issues as a supplement the Smithsonian Water/Ways exhibit coming to Black Canyon City in 2019. Water/Ways tells the story of water in Arizona. We need your funding to add the local focus.

Donate now to help our Water/Ways program bring water education to our local youth and general public to value and take action to improve our riparian and water resources.  Cost will be approximately $15,000 for speakers, venues, publicity, and educational materials. As of December 2018, we have raised over $3000.

Training to Go!

Help us design and create a training kiosk, handouts, and activities that we can take to schools and other events. We can use the same riparian graphic that we have on the wall of our Visitor Center. In addition to the graphic, we would have programs, text and other graphics that related the riparian story of our area.

Cost will be approximately $10,000 for kiosk and training design and fabrication.
